The Shawshank Redemption

The Shawshank Redemption

director:Frank Darabont

Awards it gained:American society of Cinematographers award for outstanding achievement in Cinematography in Theatrical Releases

An excellent movie realeased in 1994 by Frank Darabont. An oldie yet a goodie. The movie duration is 2hr and 22m but trust me its definitely worth it. I mean look at that long award heading it won!!

This movie is about:

Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) being sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison for the murders of his wife and her lover and is sentenced to a tough prison. However, only Andy knows he didn't commit the crimes. While there, he forms a friendship with Red (Morgan Freeman), experiences brutality of prison life, adapts, helps the warden, etc., all in 19 years. I personally would rate this movie 9 out of 10 due to its content. Everyone maybe try to watch it on a weekend, It helps you to realise more about the value of freedom :) I mean what a lucky country we live in. Australia:)

IMDb rated it 9.3/10

Mad Max: Fury Road

Hi everyone! so this week movie is Mad Max Fury Road!

Although the movie has just came out for several days, It receives alot of positive comments from the professional reviewers and the normal watchers. From my perspective, Its absolutely a must watch movie.

Here is the content of the movie:
Years after the collapse of civilization, the tyrannical Immortan Joe enslaves apocalypse survivors inside the desert fortress the Citadel. When the warrior Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) leads the despot's five wives in a daring escape, she forges an alliance with Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy), a loner and former captive. Fortified in the massive, armored truck the War Rig, they try to outrun the ruthless warlord's henchmen in a high-speed, deadly chase through the Wasteland.

The movie is promised to bring to the audiences best experiences ever, to the next couple of

weeks, I think Mad Max will continuo to bring millions dollars to the director.  It will

possibly be nominated for Oscar movie winner this year, if not best movie director of the

year.

Boyhood

Boyhood
Main Stars: Ellar Coltrane, Patricia Arquette, Lorelei Linklater and Ethan Hawke
Director: Richard Linklater

What its about: Boyhood is a simple film in idea. It follows the character of Mason from early childhood to his life in college. What makes it special in my eyes is the time frame. This film took 12 years to film, do you know why? The characters actually age. Mason (the actor) and the other characters around him actually age throughout this film growing up into what they would and do look like.

Whats good about it? This film has integrity brought from the time spent filming. It is all about character development and it this aspect it shines, Ethan (who plays mason) does a fantastic job throughout the film and feels like this film is a documentary in some ways. Its story is realistic and somber at times.

What I think: This film is a good watch, as i watched as i myself finished high school I connected to this film and understood Mason. It was interesting involving and just to put it bluntly, nice. It was a film I probably watch again because of the nostalgic feel to it.  My biggest problem with this film was its end. It was unfulfilling for the reason I knew if this was real it wasn't the end of the story, it did its job but I think because of the type of film it was it was no great.

I would give this film 3.5/5  (7/10)
Imdb gave this film 8.1/10 (4/5)

Ex Machina

Ex Machina
Main Stars: Alicia Viklander, Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac

Director: Alex Garland

What its about: Ex Machine is about a individual who is brought in for a though experiment on an artificial intelligence made by his psychopathic boss. He encounters Ava, an intelligent 'beautiful' android. He is baffled by the encounter and as he comes to understand Ava and deals with his boss and his fits of Alcoholism.

Whats good about it? Ex machina is a compelling story as it experiments with the idea of identity personality, artificial intelligence and the nature of man. The film is small with only 4 characters throughout the film and these characters are perfect in their roles. The relationships between the characters and the roles they play are simply amazing.

What I think: I loved this film, it was elegant smooth, clever and intriguing. With a refreshing take on AI and with great care taken into the small elements this film is one of the best i have seen this year. It will be in my top ten movies this year, and already it is my favorite for this year.

I would give this film 5/5 stars (10/10)

Matilda

Matilda (1996)

An old yet classical American comedy. A movie that has been seen by almost everyone. The story of a genius girl with horrible parents and a very mean principal. Matilda is a genius that happens to live with some pretty dumb people.

Luckily, she has her lovely teacher Mrs. Honey that has been through hell as well. As Matilda gets older she discovers that she has special power, which she later uses to her advantage. She accuses Mrs. Trunchbowl of murdering Mrs. honeys father .

Overall the movie is very funny. It shows how a young girl as smart as Matilda has to deal with awful parents at home and a mean principal at school. After her parents find out that the FBI have been spying on them, they decide to flee as soon as possible.

Off course Matilda being the child she is, requests to be adopted by Mrs. honey and so it happens. Later on Mrs. Trunchbowl leaves the school and Mrs. honey becomes the principal. All thanks to Matilda using her super power to the best advantage.

This storyline has been taken from Ronald Dahl's book. It has been transformed in a book . It will also be released as a musical later on in the year.

IMDb rated it 6.8/10

I rate it 8.5/10

Cheaper by the dozen

Movie:Cheaper by the dozen
Some of the stars:Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Hilary Duff

You might wonder why the movies I am posting are 'KIDS' movies. Well, having a younger brother pretty much forces me to watch these types of movies. I mean I have seen 'Cheaper by the dozen' so many times. I have almost memorised every scene in it. So the movie is about two couples that have a dozen of children. They both have sacrificed a lot for their children and have put aside their dreams and ambitions.

When the opportunity arises for both they decide to chase the dream and follow what they have always wanted knowing that there children are older and more mature. Off course, 12 are a large number to handle especially when they decide to move houses where the kids feel like outsiders.
The major problem is the mother being away for a few days on a business trip about her new book. Can dad deal with 12 children and manage a football team??
Off course not, the house is upside down and kids are up to no good knowing their mother is away.
Plan B is getting a babysitter, but who would be crazy enough to handle 12 children even if the pay was comfortable.

Besides having to watch this movie a lot of times I somewhat consider it one of the originals. Its a good movie with many opportunities to laugh.
